So, I have a question for you today… How do you deal with those days where you do not feel good? You know the days I’m talking about where you don’t feel great about yourself, or your situation, or where you are in your life or where you’re not?
Before I go on, I want to just say that it is ok to have these days where you don’t feel great. You’re only human and this is all part of life. Days where we have ups and downs, it’s part of the experience.
What I don’t want you to do is let it spiral out of control, where these down days turn into weeks, months or even years.
I don’t want you to miss out on the great things you bring to this world and the amazing experiences you could be having because you’re stuck in these down days.
I was stuck in a place for months and soon realised that it wasn’t getting me any further and the only person I was hurting by feeling like this was me. I was stunting my growth and preventing myself from enjoying life. It was me that was holding myself back, I was solely responsible.
This is where I introduced a ‘Joy Jar’.
To help lift me out of a funk; shift me out of the down day I decided to keep a jar full of good things. On bits of paper I would write inspirational quotes, motivational words, things that made me smile to setting myself little challenges. All folded up and placed in the jar. So that on those really bad days, I would head straight to the ‘Joy Jar’ and pick a piece of paper with an action to do.
This worked wonders. I was able to bring myself out of the place so quickly that there wasn’t enough time to fall any deeper into the depths of down day despair.
If you’ve been feeling like this, then I encourage you today to create your own ‘Joy Jar’.
Grab an empty jar and start writing out all of the things that bring you joy on little bits of paper. Fold them up and place in the jar, ready for you on those tough and challenging days.
Be sure to let me know how you get on and how you found preparing this technique in your life.
