Are you having a bad day?
Remember this, it’s a day. A moment in time.
This day does not define your life. This day can be changed by you.
You get to choose how you react to this day.
You do not have a bad life my friend.
There are always going to be tough challenges or situations that aren’t going to be great, that’s part of our human experience. We are all going to go through those.
What I want to share with you today are 4 strategies to help when you’re feeling frustrated with a situation going on, or you’re unhappy with where you are right now or when you’re just not feeling great.
Let’s take a look…
Strategy #1 – Take a nice deep breath
There’s soooo much evidence on the benefits of breathing exercises; the biggest one is an instant stress reducer.
Try it right now, take a nice deep breath in through your nose and exhale through your mouth. Bring your attention to how it feels to breathe; the rhythm of your breathing and how your body is responding right now. Feel’s calm doesn’t it?
Strategy #2 – Get outside
Change your scenery, head outside and be in a different environment. If you’re stuck inside a stuffy building that’s just going to add to your frustration. Clear your head and get out into the fresh air. Feel a different temperature on your skin, get some new air into your lungs. Take a new view in with your eyes. If you can, try and go for a walk. Move your body – clarity will come from movement and a change of scene. Bringing a new perspective, and ideas on how to move forward.
Strategy #3 – “I can do this”
This is one of my favourites… a little exercise to empower you. Find a mirror where you can see your reflection, and repeat the words “I can do this, I’ve got this”
If you’re thinking, that’s ridiculous I’ll feel silly doing this! Ask yourself this, would I rather feel silly or bad today? I know which one I’d choose!
Believe me, this self-talk is pretty powerful. You are the one who can change your day, you’re the one who can choose how to react and believe me this exercise can be a game-changer for all things beautiful.
Strategy #4 – Attitude of Gratitude
Studies show that by taking time to practice daily gratitude can increase happiness and reduce depression. When caught in a bad day, this little exercise can shift your mood and mindset towards a challenging situation or experience instantly. Make a list of 5 things that you’re grateful for in your life today and see how you feel.
There you have it! 4 strategies on how to kick a bad day for you to try.
Now, I’d love to hear from you!
